We’re looking for a mature, senior WordPress developer to contract with and work with us long-term. This is not a task-taker role. We want a collaborative technical partner who thinks strategically, communicates clearly, and helps us build a clean, reusable, low-technical-debt codebase.
This is an established production website that has been live for over a year. We value good judgment, clear communication, and long-term maintainability over speed at all costs.
Engagement: Ongoing contract (10–20 hours/week to start)
Rate target: ~$30 USD/hour

- WordPress
- WP Travel Engine (core business plugin)
- Hosting on Kinsta
- Cloudflare (CDN, caching, security)
- GitHub for version control
- GitHub Actions for CI/CD
- All designs are created in Figma before development
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborating on architecture decisions to minimize technical debt
- Building reusable, maintainable WordPress components
- Extending and working cleanly with WP Travel Engine (no hacks or brittle workarounds)
- Improving performance, reliability, and SEO structure
- Translating Figma designs into high-quality WordPress implementations
- Participating in code reviews and technical discussions
- Working through a real GitHub workflow (PRs, reviews, CI)

Required Experience
- Strong, hands-on WordPress experience (themes, plugins, hooks, queries)
- Experience working with complex plugins (booking, ecommerce, or data-heavy plugins)
- Solid understanding of SEO-friendly site structure
- Experience optimizing real production WordPress sites
- Comfort working with GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Ability to work independently without constant hand-holding
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience migrating from Drupal to WordPress
- Familiarity with Cloudflare caching and rules
- Experience with content-heavy or travel-related websites
