Are you a Senior Full Stack Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, building impactful products, and working alongside a collaborative team? We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our AI Learner Engagement team at Thinkific, where you’ll help build the next generation of AI-powered learner experiences.
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you’ll work across our application stack to support our AI Learner Engagement strategy, helping us deliver intelligent, personalized, and engaging learning experiences. You’ll investigate and assess product issues, contribute to meaningful features, and mentor others as a senior contributor. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, in this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design teams to translate requirements into features that create real value for our users as well as experiment with new trial features and technologies .
Your goal will be to lead medium-to-large feature projects from conception to completion in our agile environment, with leveraging AI tooling to rapidly shape how AI enhances learner engagement on the platform. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:
• Author code that is reliable, well-rounded, and sets a high standard for the team
• Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot problems within the Thinkific platform
• Participate in architectural design, review, and implementation of scalable, production-quality features
• Contribute to scalable, well-aligned architecture while identifying patterns that reduce technical debt, improve efficiency, and support long-term code quality
• Participate in effort and complexity estimation for new product features and tasks
• Share knowledge with others through mentorship, clear documentation, code reviews, pair programming, and training sessions
• Work with your team to research and advocate for new technologies, including AI-driven tooling and frameworks that can elevate our product and development practices
• Participate in on-call rotations as required, troubleshooting production issues to maintain service reliability
The person we have in mind likely:
• Has 5+ years of experience working in a full-stack development role, and at least 1+ years of experience working in a SaaS environment
• Has experience building or contributing to AI-powered features, and is motivated to learn how AI can improve learner engagement at scale
• Is knowledgeable and experienced with modern web frameworks and libraries, particularly Next.js and React
• Has hands-on professional experience with modern server-side frameworks including Ruby on Rails and/or Node..js
• Demonstrates a practical understanding of Web APIs, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Showcases the ability to design and implement GraphQL APIs
• Has experience building production event-driven systems
• Has experience with relational databases, like PostgreSQL
• Is highly adaptable and a proven problem solver
• Leverages AI tools to ideate, improve engineering productivity, and support others in adopting AI effectively
• Has experience in instrumenting and monitoring applications with tools like New Relic or DataDog etc.
• Loves to learn and grow, continuously levelling up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or even building their own business
These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:
• Experience building real-time AI web applications
• Knowledge and experience with cloud-based server infrastructures, particularly Cloudflare
• Some experience and exposure to machine learning or deep learning, particularly experience building rules engines
We’re committed to fair and transparent pay that reflects both where you’re at and where you can grow. This role has a salary range of $120,000- $185,000 in Canada, designed to capture the full journey from developing skills to excelling in the position. Salaries above the midpoint are typically reserved for team members who have demonstrated strong, consistent performance, deep expertise, and a significant positive impact within the role.
For high-demand or hard-to-fill positions like this one, we may hire above the midpoint for candidates who bring exceptional experience, skills, or impact potential.
