Freelance Junior Developer: Technical Review Support (WordPress and React)

We are an independent UK directory platform in a regulated professional services niche, looking for a junior or graduate developer to support an independent technical review of our existing platform.

About the project

The platform is built on WordPress with a React front end and is currently live. We are not looking for someone to build new features. This is a short, paid review project to help us understand the current build and prepare clear documentation for future development. Full details of the platform will be shared under NDA once we are speaking directly with a candidate.

What you would do

• Walk through the codebase and produce a plain language summary of how it is structured
• Identify any obvious technical debt, messy code or areas likely to cause future problems
• Test core functionality (profile creation, approval flow and display) and note anything that does not behave as expected
• Help identify gaps in existing technical documentation and what would be needed for a future developer to pick up the project

What we are not asking for

• No live changes to the platform
• No requirement for deep security or infrastructure expertise. If you have some awareness of common web security basics that is a bonus but not essential for this piece of work

What we are looking for

• Some hands on experience with WordPress and React, through study, a bootcamp, internship or personal projects
• Comfortable reading and reviewing someone else’s code rather than your own
• Able to write clearly for a non-technical founder
• Available for a short, defined piece of work rather than an ongoing role

Practical details

• Fixed scope, paid project, timeline and cost to be agreed once we have discussed the brief
• An NDA will be required before any platform details, access or logins are shared
• Remote work is fine
