Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in cinematography, videography, and visual storytelling. This

opportunity focuses on training and refining advanced AI systems to interpret and generate visual content with artistic precision and narrative depth.
As an AI Tutor – Image and Video Specialist, you will help develop AI models that understand composition, lighting, editing, and visual storytelling techniques. Your expertise in film, media, or visual arts will guide the creation of curated datasets and annotation standards that capture the nuances of cinematic production. This role is ideal for creative professionals with hands-on experience in video production, filmmaking, and visual critique.
Key Responsibilities
- Use proprietary software to label, annotate, and evaluate images, videos, and multimedia content
- Provide expert feedback on visual composition, cinematography, and editing techniques
- Collaborate with technical teams to design and improve workflows for visual data annotation
- Contribute to tasks that enhance AI understanding of cinematic structure and storytelling
- Evaluate AI-generated visual content for quality, coherence, and aesthetic integrity
- Maintain precision and adaptability while interpreting evolving project guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Film, Media Studies, Visual Arts, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated expertise in cinematography or videography with hands-on production experience
- Strong understanding of composition, lighting, editing, and narrative flow
- Familiarity with industry tools, standards, and creative processes in film and video production
- Excellent analytical, creative, and communication skills
- Commitment to advancing AI systems that excel in visual reasoning and artistic creation
Preferred Backgrounds
- Portfolio of published visual content such as short films, ads, or marketing materials
- Professional experience in film production, video editing, or content creation
- Experience critiquing or mentoring in visual media disciplines
More About the Opportunity
- Remote or in-person (Palo Alto, CA); in-office requires 5 days per week. Remote positions require strong self-motivation
- Initial schedule: 9:00am–5:30pm PST for the first two weeks of training; then 9:00am–5:30pm in your local timezone
- Personal computer must be a Chromebook, Mac (macOS 11+) or Windows 10+ device
- Reliable smartphone access required
- U.S.-based applicants must reside outside of Wyoming and Illinois
Compensation & Benefits
- $45–100 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location
- International pay rates available upon request
- Hourly pay is one component of a comprehensive rewards package; benefits vary by country, and depending on your location, you may be eligible for medical coverage
