Project Overview

I’m looking for a WordPress developer to build a clean, fast, SEO-focused content site on an existing domain (huntersfieldguide.com).

This is a non-ecommerce affiliate site in the hunting/outdoors niche. The goal is to create a lightweight, high-performance site optimized for publishing blog content and scaling SEO traffic.

I am specifically looking for a lean build—not a heavy design project or over-engineered solution.

Scope of Work

WordPress Setup:

• Install and configure WordPress on hosting (open to recommendations)
• Set up a lightweight theme (GeneratePress, Astra, or Kadence preferred)
• Ensure fast performance and strong Core Web Vitals

Site Structure:

• Create core pages:
  • Homepage
  • About
  • Contact
  • Privacy Policy
  • Affiliate Disclosure

Set up initial category structure:

• Binoculars
• GPS
• Hunting Gear
• (should be easily expandable)

Blog / Content System:

• Configure blog post templates
• Ensure:
  • clean typography
  • good readability
  • mobile optimization
  • fast load speed

Homepage:

• Content-focused (not ecommerce)
• Highlight categories and featured articles
• Simple, clean, and functional
• No heavy custom design needed

SEO Setup:

• Install and configure RankMath (or similar)
• Set permalink structure (/post-name/)
• Basic schema + sitemap setup

Migration / Domain:

• Domain currently points to Shopify
• Build site on staging/temp domain
• Switch domain to WordPress when ready
• Implement simple redirect strategy (no complex migration needed)

Optional:

• Set up affiliate link plugin (e.g., Lasso or ThirstyAffiliates)

What I Do NOT Need

• No WooCommerce or ecommerce functionality
• No complex animations or heavy design work
• No extended design phase or Figma mockups

Ideal Candidate

• Experience building content / affiliate sites (not just ecommerce)
• Understands SEO fundamentals and site structure
• Prioritizes performance and simplicity
• Comfortable recommending best practices (themes, plugins, hosting)

Timeline

Looking for a fast turnaround: ~1 week (up to ~2 weeks max)

Budget

Target range: $2,000 – $3,000 depending on experience and approach
